Malabon employee kills self

MANILA, Philippines - A Malabon City government employee, who had been experiencing bouts of severe stomach pain, allegedly killed himself Wednesday morning.

Ernesto Leaño, 49, who worked under the city government’s environmental police office, was found dead in his bedroom by his 33-year-old sister, Grace, according to a police report.

He was clutching a .38 caliber revolver and bore a gunshot wound in the temple, police said.

Grace said her brother’s body was stiff when she discovered it.

According to the police, the victim had been suffering from recurring stomach pain and had been shying away from relatives. Investigators are trying to determine the victim’s ailment and if there had been foul play involved in his death.
