Jobless Korean musician commits suicide
MANILA, Philippines - A South Korean musician, who had been out of work for at least three years, committed suicide by jumping from the 24th floor of a condominium in Mandaluyong City yesterday.
Jaek Young Han, alias Joshua, 35, is the third resident of the condominium to commit suicide in the GA Tower in the past two years, police said.
Jaek and his girlfriend, Lee Jung-ah, reportedly had a bitter quarrel four days ago but settled their differences Wednesday night.
According to Lee, the victim drank liquor after asking for forgiveness as she went to sleep. She said she was awakened four hours later when the lights in their room went out.
Police officers said the power in the condominium went out as Jaek hit the electrical cables before landing on the pavement.
The southbound traffic along EDSA was snarled as it took government rescuers two hours to retrieve Jaek’s body.
Records show that a 29-year-old call center agent jumped from the 28th floor of the GA Tower on Jan. 30, 2012 while a depressed 19-year-old Philippine Maritime Institute student jumped from the ninth floor of the building on Jan. 21, 2013.
