Ex-ambassador’s son beaten up in QC bar

MANILA, Philippines - The son and namesake of former ambassador Macabangkit Lanto was beaten up at a bar in Quezon City before dawn yesterday.

Macabangkit Lanto Jr., 28, reportedly remains in the hospital due to injuries he sustained, said Senior Police Officer 4 John Sales.

The victim sustained injuries in the face when he was hit with a bottle.

Police officers arrested Rommel Jay Juan, 20, after the victim identified him as one of those who attacked him in a bar along Tomas Morato Avenue at past 4 a.m. yesterday.

Sales said the victim’s group and that of Juan figured in a brawl while drinking liquor at the bar. It was not clear how the fight started.
