PNR to extend operating hours

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The state-run Philippine National Railways (PNR) will extend its operating hours starting next month to help alleviate the plight of commuters amid the construction of major government road projects in Metro Manila.

Lawyer Michael Arthur Sagcal, spokesperson for the Department of Transportation and Communications, said the extended operating hours of the PNR would help ease traffic congestion in the metropolis.

Sagcal said the move aims to encourage motorists to take the mass rail transit instead of using their vehicles.

The Department of Public Works and Highways has identified 15 infrastructure projects in Metro Manila.

The projects include the Metro Manila Skyway Stage 3 project and the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Expressway Phase 2.
