MANILA, Philippines - Robbers barged into a house in Quezon City yesterday morning, taking P500,000 in cash and valuables after they hogtied members of the family.
Police said four men barged into the house of Boy Serrano in Veterans Village, Project 7 at around 11 a.m.
Serrano’s daughter, Christine Louie, told police the robbers were in a gray Isuzu Crosswind and gained entry into the house when Serrano went out.
As Serrano was about to return to the house, the Crosswind suddenly stopped, three of the robbers stepped out.
They ordered Serrano at gunpoint to open the gate, dragged him into the house and tied his hands.
A fourth robber followed, carrying a crowbar and asked Serrano how many persons were in the house. When Serrano responded that he was alone, they covered his mouth with tape before two of the robbers went to the second floor of the house.
The robbers tried to open Christine’s room, but the door was locked. They then saw her brother, Mark Louie, in the bathroom.
One of the robbers slipped while entering the bathroom, giving Mark Louie a chance to punch him. Another robber, however, pistol-whipped Mark Louie in the head.
He managed to jump from the second-floor bathroom’s window and shout for help. Christine also got out through her room’s window.
It was at this point that the robbers fled, taking their loot with them.
