Evelyn Macairan - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - At least P71 million worth of counterfeit goods and rice were confiscated from three warehouses in Parañaque City yesterday.

Personnel from the Bureau of Customs (BOC), National Bureau of Investigation, National Food Authority and the Intellectual Property Office (IPO) seized P70 million worth of branded slippers, rubber shoes, t-shirts, extension cords, LED flashlights and shampoos as well as P1.5 million worth of Korean rice allegedly smuggled from China.

BOC Deputy Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno and IPO legal officer Jerome Turga said they will coordinate with the warehouses’ owners to find out who rented the buildings.

The raids on the three warehouses follows the confiscation of P550 million worth of counterfeit goods from two warehouses in Pasay City Friday and P1.3 million worth of smuggled rice from a warehouse in Parañaque City Saturday.
