MANILA, Philippines - National Capital Region Police Office chief Director Carmelo Valmoria conferred yesterday a Philippine National Police Medalya ng Sugatang Magiting (Wounded Personnel Medal) on a Manila policeman.
Valmoria pinned the medal on Senior Police Officer 1 Edgar Lacson, who remains confined at the Chinese General Hospital.
Lacson and two other police officers responded to a commotion in Pandacan on Feb. 5 that resulted in the shooting of a waiter. The suspect, Eduardo Concepcion, ran and hid in a house.
When the policemen followed him, he reportedly shot at them, hitting Lacson. Concepcion was later caught hiding in the ceiling of the house.
