Weekend haul: 4 cars stolen in QC

Reinir Padua - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Four vehicles were stolen while parked at the houses of their respective owners in Quezon City over the weekend.

These included a black 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer (XFH-382); a white 2013 Nissan Urvan with conduction sticker LE-4251; a white 1993 Honda Civic (XKZ-300); and a silver Mitsubishi Strada (TXQ-359).

In one of the cases, owner Arturo Cruz, 50, of Barangay Veterans Village, claimed his driver, Ronald Nunag, was the one who stole his Lancer at around 8 a.m. Sunday.

Apart from the Lancer, Nunag took off with a 32-inch television and a Nikon DSLR camera worth P32,000, he said.

Cruz told police Nunag worked for him for only three weeks, during which items in his house went missing. He said that on Sunday, his relatives saw Nunag in the yard but stayed in the house out of fear.

At past 5 a.m. Sunday, the van of Carmelito delos Reyes was stolen while it was parked in front of his house in Barangay Sto. Niño.

Delos Reyes said he was sleeping in his living room when he was awakened by the sound of the engine. When he went out to check, he saw a man drive his van away.

At around 4 a.m. Sunday, Marc Apostol parked his Civic in front of his house in Barangay Sacred Heart. When he got back out after about 30 minutes, the car was gone.

Also at around 4 a.m. Sunday, Jonasser Bersamina, 32, arrived and parked his Strada at his house in Sta. Mesa Heights, Barangay San Isidro. Bersamina went out after two hours but his Strada was no longer there.
