NCRPO taps LGUs’ help vs criminality
MANILA, Philippines - The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) will seek the help of local government units (LGUs) in Metro Manila in the war against criminality.
NCRPO chief Director Carmelo Valmoria ordered his five district directors to coordinate with the mayors in their jurisdiction to combat criminals on motorcycles.
“Criminality is not a police problem alone, so we are enjoining all stakeholders, especially the LGUs to do their share so we could solve criminality,†he said.
Valmoria noted that mobile cars have a hard time going after suspects on motorcycles because of limited mobility.
Philippine National Police chief Director General Alan Purisima has created a Tactical Motorcycle Riders Unit (TMRU) to thwart motorcycle-riding criminals.
Members of the TMRU are patrolling the vicinity of malls, commercial centers and banks where lawless elements usually strike.
Valmoria lauded the LGUs of Pasig and Parañaque for donating 20 motorcycles to their police forces.
He said the NCRPO is ready to sponsor a two-week seminar to train policemen how to fire a gun while on motorcycles.
