Woman dies, 2 hurt in QC fire

MANILA, Philippines - A woman died and two others were injured when a fire broke out in Barangay Pasong Tamo, Quezon City yesterday afternoon.

Chery Samonte, 51, died of heart attack during the incident, according to city fire marshal Superintendent Jose Fernandez.

Arnel Beltran, 37, and Virginia Promentina, 49, were injured.

The fire reportedly started at the house of Amy Tybocsing at 1:45 p.m.

Fanned by the wind, the flames quickly spread to neighboring houses.

Firefighters put out the fire at 3:20 p.m.

Fernandez said 144 families were rendered homeless.

Damage to property was placed at P2 million.

Fire hits Taguig

In Taguig, a fire reportedly caused by a faulty electrical wiring gutted seven houses in Barangay West Bicutan yesterday morning.

The city fire department said no one was reported hurt in the incident. – Reinir Padua, Mike Frialde
