Pedicab driver charged for raping girl, 3

MANILA, Philippines - A 33-year-old pedicab driver was charged Wednesday for allegedly raping a three-year-old girl in Malabon on Monday.

Ryan Manubay allegedly lured the girl to an isolated area in a residential compound at around 11 a.m. and raped her, Malabon police chief Senior Superintendent Severino Abad said.

The girl told her mother, who sought the assistance of Police Officers 1 Angelito Olivares and Joselito Ereño.

Manubay refused to comment on the complaint against him, saying he was told by his relatives to keep mum.

Earlier this month, another pedicab driver was arrested in Manila after a surveillance video showed him in the company of a six-year-old girl who was found dead near Plaza Dilao in Paco. He reportedly told police he was high on drugs when he raped her.
