MANILA, Philippines - A six-year-old girl believed to have been raped was found dead in Paco, Manila at past midnight Monday.
The body of Arlyn Joy Balolong was found in front of the old train station along President Quirino Avenue at about 12:30 a.m. She had no underwear and there were physical indications that she had been raped.
Arlyn was last seen about 10 p.m. on Sunday. According to her mother Elizabeth, her daughter was at a store near their house in Pandacan.
Thirty minutes later, Elizabeth looked for Arlyn in order to bring her home but the girl was nowhere to be found.
“Immediately... the victim’s mother informed her husband...the duo exerted all the efforts necessary to locate their daughter but proved futile,†Police Officer 2 Michael Marragun said.
At past midnight Monday, barangay watchman Ramon Sus called the Manila Police District (MPD) Station 10, saying he found the body of a girl clad only in a light blue top.
The MPD called Elizabeth, who identified her daughter’s body.
