MANILA, Philippines - A supervisor of a restaurant was killed by robbers who shot him as he was about to go home in Quezon City before dawn yesterday.
Joman Porras, 30, a supervisor of Gerardo’s Bar and Restaurant, died while being treated at the hospital following the attack in Barangay South Triangle.
Inspector Elmer Monsalve, homicide investigation section chief of the Quezon City Police District’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, said the victim was shot even though he did not attempt to fend off his attackers.
“The victim did not fight them off but it was possible that the gun went off while it was being held against his back,†Monsalve said.
Porras had just left the restaurant along Panay Avenue and was about to go home to Antipolo City, along with cashier Jean Mata, when three men on two motorcycles accosted them at past 2 a.m.
The robbers snatched Mata’s backpack containing P5,000, a Samsung Galaxy cell phone and several IDs and office documents. The robbers then cornered Porras, with one man holding a gun against his side.
Without any warning, one of the men shot Porras once, after which the trio sped off toward EDSA on their motorcycles.
