3 hurt in New Year blaze

MANILA, Philippines - A family of three was injured after a fire broke out in their two-story Quezon City home on New Year’s Day.

Gabriel Uy, 60, and his wife Aida, 58, and daughter Kimberly, 26, were brought to the St. Luke’s Medical Center after the fire at their house in Barangay Lourdes, Senior Fire Inspector 3 Jose Felipe Arreza said.

The blaze, which broke out at around 11:25 p.m. and reached third alarm, destroyed around P1 million worth of property, he said. No other house in the area was affected by the fire.

The officer said the fire broke out at the Uy residence’s kitchen. It was put out at around 1 a.m. yesterday.
