MANILA, Philippines - Police arrested a butcher on Christmas Eve in connection with the murder of his partner in their rented house in Quezon City last Sunday.
Police Officer 2 Hermogenes Capili said investigators nabbed Alberto Balde, 37, at around 3 p.m. Tuesday in Caloocan City where he was hiding.
Balde was tagged in the killing of Donnabelle Gamayon, 30, in Maligaya Park Subdivision, Barangay Pasong Putik in Quezon City.
The victim died of several stab wounds and her left nipple was cut off.
A neighbor of the victim told police investigators that the suspect was spotted at a house in Caloocan.
The same neighbor earlier told investigators that she had witnessed the suspect attempting to stab Gamayon in the couple’s house in Quezon City.
She also overheard the couple arguing and, after a while, heard the victim moaning, then shouting for help.
When the neighbor went out, she saw the suspect, who still holding a knife, leave the house.
