Cop shoots colleague at Christmas party

MANILA, Philippines - A policeman was shot dead, allegedly by his colleague, during the Manila Police District (MPD) anti-drug unit’s Christmas party at a bar in Tondo, Manila before dawn yesterday.

Police Officer 1 Anthony Alagde, 31, of the MPD’s district special operations group, was declared dead on arrival at the Mary Johnston Hospital from a gunshot wound in the head.

He was allegedly shot by PO2 Jugiex Quinto of the MPD’s anti-drug unit. Quinto is being held at the MPD’s homicide section detention cell.

Senior Inspector Steve Casimiro, chief of MPD homicide section, said Quinto reportedly shot Alagde because the jokes apparently got out of hand at around 4 a.m.
