Pia Lee-Brago - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Three Filipinos were among five expatriates killed in a road accident in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province on Wednesday, an Arab News report said yesterday.

Five others were seriously injured. They were taken to a hospital in Alkhobar for treatment.

All five victims – three Filipinos, one Indian and one Pakistani – died on the spot.

According to the report, the expatriates were working for a construction company in Abqaiq and were on their way to their work site in Dhahran in their minivan when it collided with a truck.

The Department of Foreign Affairs could not immediately confirm the incident. The DFA was awaiting report from the Philippine embassy in Riyadh.

“Our ambassador in Saudi has read this in the news and is trying to get a confirmation. The employer has not reported yet to the embassy,” DFA spokesman Raul Hernandez said.
