Pinoys warned vs job offers in Japan

Mayen Jaymalin - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Filipinos aspiring to be overseas workers should be wary of accepting job offers in Japan, the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) said yesterday.

POEA chief Hans Cacdac said there may be a demand for teachers and domestic helpers in Japan, but there should also be actual job orders.

“Demand for teachers and domestic workers in Japan is one thing, actual job orders from employers are another. Beware of illegal recruiters,” he stressed.

Based on POEA data, Cacdac said, actual job orders for teachers is very low  while that of  domestic helpers is almost zero.

Cacdac issued the warning following the announcement of the Philippine embassy in Japan that there is a huge demand for teachers and domestic helpers there after a new law required Japanese students to learn English.
