Court urged to solve massacre suspects’ arrests
MANILA, Philippines - The prosecution panel in the Maguindanao massacre murder case has asked the court to rectify the confusion caused by the arrest of two persons who had the same name in the arrest warrants served to them.
The prosecution told Judge Jocelyn Solis-Reyes of the Regional Trial Court Branch 221 said the situation should be rectified in order to prevent a miscarriage of justice.
The prosecution submitted the manifestation as a response to the court’s order to file their comment on the earlier motion of Rene Matuti, identified as Dexson Saptula, who sought his release from jail after Mohammad Adam, who was also identified as Saptula, was arrested on Nov. 9.
Matuti, arrested in 2012, said Adam is the real accused in the massacre.
Prosecutors said the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao categorically admitted that Adam is the real Saptula and the one who should be accused of 58 counts of murder, based on evidence.
