Worker crushed to death in warehouse

Ramil Bajo, Rey Galupo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines -  A 33-year-old maintenance worker was found dead in a warehouse in Valenzuela City Sunday morning.

Alberto Cruz went to work at around 7 a.m. to clean the machines in one of the warehouses of Umalia Trading in Maysan, city police chief Senior Superintendent Rhoderick Armamento said.

Co-worker Rodito Carlos found Cruz an hour later under the crusher machine, with a fractured skull. Carlos called their co-workers and brought Cruz to the Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Armamento said when investigators checked the footage taken by the warehouse’s surveillance camera, Cruz was last seen cleaning the machines before disappearing from the frame.

Probers ruled out foul play and theorized that the victim could have slipped and hit his head on the crusher machine.
