MANILA, Philippines - Three men robbed a money transfer shop in Quezon City Sunday afternoon, taking more than P300,000 in cash and valuables.
The three men posed as customers at a Western Union branch in Barangay Masambong and robbed its employees at around 2 p.m., Police Officer 3 Teotimo Daguman said.
The heist occurred a few hours after another Western Union branch in Parañaque was robbed and its guard killed at around 9 a.m. Police officers are still investigating whether the slain guard was the same one who identified the suspects who robbed the shop on Jan. 29.
Daguman said the Quezon City branch lost P295,226.15 in cash collections from the vault. The suspects also took the closed-circuit television system’s main unit and the cell phones and money of tellers Charmis Lianne Millare and Philipi Anthony Maningting.
The robbers then sped away on a motorcycle.
