MANILA, Philippines - A 27-year-old sales executive of a car company was shot dead and robbed in Quezon City before dawn yesterday.

Mark Matthew Alvarez, a sales executive of Mitsubishi Motors, was killed by two unidentified gunmen at a gasoline station in Barangay North Fairview around 3 a.m., said Inspector Elmer Monsalve, chief of the homicide section of the Quezon City Police District.

Monsalve said the victim was shot several times in the head at the gasoline station at the corner of Commonwealth Avenue and Atherton street before his killers rifled through his belongings.

Recovered from the crime scene were three spent .45 caliber shells, three spent 9mm shells and six deformed slugs.

Investigators said the victim was seen riding a red Honda Scoopy motorcycle to the gasoline station, where he was spotted talking to an unidentified man.

A few minutes later, a taxi driver near the gasoline station saw Alvarez running away barefoot from two men.

The assailants then shot at Alvarez, who fell to the ground, said Monsalve.

The police officer said one of the men took from the victim a pouch with cash and cell phones. The men then boarded the victim’s motorcycle and drove off.

Monsalve said they are still investigating if the man seen talking with the victim before the attack was involved in the killing.
