MANILA, Philippines - A woman died when a fire broke out at a neighborhood in Quezon City before dawn yesterday.
Virgie Lasponia, 33, was trapped in her room at Sitio Militar Ibaba in Barangay Bahay Toro, according to Superintendent Samuel Tadeo, deputy city fire marshal.
Tadeo said it was still unclear what caused the woman’s death since her body did not have any burns.
Arson probers said the fire broke out at around 1 a.m., destroying the house owned by Lasponia’s mother, Alice, 59.
Firefighters put out the fire at 1:47 a.m. Damage to property was estimated at P50,000.
Babylyn and Daniel Rubenacio were injured in the incident.
Authorities have yet to establish the cause of the blaze.
Two women were killed when fires struck Barangay Talipapa and Barangay Baesa on Thursday night.
