Daughter probed in QC dad’s death

MANILA, Philippines - Police investigators are eyeing foul play in the death of a barangay councilman whose decomposing body was found in the house of one of his daughters in Quezon City on Monday morning.

Maureen de Venecia is being investigated for the killing of her father, Amador Castro, Quezon City Police District director Chief Superintendent Richard Albano said yesterday.

The 64-year-old Castro’s body was found wrapped in a blanket in one of the rooms of De Venecia’s house in Barangay Pasong Tamo. His hands and feet were tied with an electric cable, Albano said.

The victim’s head was reportedly crushed with a blunt object.

Albano said De Venecia claimed that four persons were in the house when she left the victim.

“We’re talking to her to convince her to reveal the names of the persons who were there,” Albano said.

Castro’s money worth P150,000 and jewelry were missing, police said.

The victim and his grandson visited De Venecia last Sunday. Castro was found dead the following day. Police said De Venecia was not around when her father’s body was discovered.
