MANILA, Philippines - Burglars broke into a house in Quezon City, whose owner was out of the country, and took more than P1 million worth of cash and valuables.

Augusto Magno, 60, a retired employee of the United States Postal Service, said he lost an attache case containing jewelry amounting to P1.2 million; a LED television; an iPod; six bottles of high-end perfume; and four mobile phones.

Police Officer 3 Marlon dela Vega said the complainant cut short his trip abroad and arrived in the country yesterday morning to report the burglary. Magno told police his niece, who lived near his house, informed him about the theft, which she discovered Friday morning.
