Couple killed in QC; love triangle eyed
MANILA, Philippines - A couple was shot dead near a market in Quezon City on Friday night as police investigators are looking into a possible love triangle motive as the slain man was reportedly married to another woman.
Jigs Nirona and Rhodora Agoncillo died on the spot after they were attacked by four motorcycle-riding assailants at around 7 p.m. in Barangay Commonwealth, said Superintendent Eleazar Matta, commander of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Station 6.
Inspector Elmer Monsalve, head of the QCPD’s homicide investigation section, said the couple had just arrived home in their car when they were shot several times. The woman reportedly owned a stall at the Commonwealth Market.
According to Monsalve, the woman’s family claimed the man’s wife had once caused a scene at the slain couple’s house in Barangay Commonwealth.
Monsalve said the slain man was Agoncillo’s boyfriend before she got married. Agoncillo had reportedly been widowed and gotten back together with her former lover.
Monsalve said they were looking at this angle and even going back to reports at the village hall, where the parties were brought following the commotion caused by the slain man’s estranged wife during the previous incident.
