MANILA, Philippines - A policeman was wounded when a neighborhood toughie allegedly shot him during a traffic altercation in Quezon City on Sunday night .
Heson Bagalacsa of Barangay Sta. Monica, Novaliches is now the subject of a manhunt for shooting Senior Police Officer 1 Renato Corado, 51, in the back. Corado is with the Quezon City Police District’s logistics division.
The jobless Bagalacsa is reportedly known as a trigger-happy toughie and had been involved in incidents of indiscriminate firing, Police Officer 1 Julius Raz said.
Raz said Corado and his wife, Rosalinda, were in their Toyota Corolla and Bagalacsa was driving his motorcycle from the opposite direction when the two vehicles nearly collided because the road was too narrow.
As Corado drove away, Bagalacsa suddenly made a U-turn and chased the Corolla. Bagalacsa allegedly fired shots at the back of the car, hitting the victim in the back before fleeing. The policeman’s wife rushed him to the hospital where he is currently confined.
