Doctor loses P1 M to condo thieves

Reinir Padua - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A doctor lost more than P1 million worth of cash and valuables during thefts at her condominium unit in Quezon City over the weekend.

Elice Ventura, 30, lost P1 million worth of jewelry; P200,000; her passport; a bank passbook; and a transcript of records and clearances, during the thefts at her one-bedroom unit at the Orchard Tower 3 in Barangay Bagumbayan.

Police Officer 2 George Caculba said no break-in happened as a check on the condominium unit showed that there were no signs of forced entry.

Caculba said they are investigating the other persons staying with the doctor.

On Saturday morning, Ventura discovered that the P200,000 was missing from her cabinet.

On Sunday, Ventura spoke with those staying with her and told them that her money was missing. That afternoon, they all slept together. Ventura woke up at around 2 p.m. on Sunday only to find that more items were missing, Caculba said.
