2 alleged pickpockets nabbed at LRT-2 station

MANILA, Philippines - Two men were arrested after they were caught stealing an American man’s smartphone at the Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) Cubao station Thursday morning.

Mang Kupas, 26, and Mohaimen Esmael, 27, were subjected to inquest proceedings for theft Thursday night, said Inspector Alan dela Cruz.

Adam Carl Johnson, 32, had just gotten out of the train when he was bumped from behind by Kupas. Another passenger noticed Kupas take a cell phone from the victim’s front pocket and pass it on to Esmael.

After a brief chase in the station, the guards arrested the two suspects and recovered Johnson’s LG Nexus mobile phone, worth P25,000.
