Girl, 4, survives ambush that kills parents
MANILA, Philippines - A four year-old-girl emerged unhurt in an ambush that killed her parents in Tondo, Manila Friday.
The girl was on a blue motorcycle, sitting between her father, Edgardo Torres, 47, and mother Paula Mariz Uy when they were attacked.
Torres was hit in the left cheek, while Uy was shot in the left armpit. Both were declared dead on arrival at the Mary Johnston Hospital at past 8 p.m.
The family was about to buy food for their dinner. They were going through Sta. Maria street and were in front of Magat Salamat Elementary school when two men, also on a motorcycle, shot at them at around 7:30 p.m.
The assassins left after seeing the couple fall off the motorcycle. Police have yet to establish the motive behind the ambush.
