Gazmin, Bautista lead today’s Alay Lakad

MANILA, Philippines - Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin and Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff Gen. Emmanuel Bautista will lead Alay Lakad 2013 in Luneta today to raise funds for out-of-school youths.

Members of the military and the Philippine National Police as well as civilians will join the activity dubbed as “Lakad Bayan: Para Sa Kapayapaan,” according to AFP spokesman Lt. Col. Ramon Zagala.

Participants will converge at the Cultural Center of the Philippines at 5 a.m. before proceeding to the Quirino Grandstand.

The Alay Lakad Foundation Inc. organized the event.

“The walk is an annual fund-raising project aimed at sending back to school deserving youths and train them to become productive members of society,” Zagala said.
