Reinir Padua - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A man died when he rammed his brand new BMW sedan into a concrete barrier of a flyover in Quezon City late Thursday night.

Jose Alvarez, 45, of One McKinley Parkway in Taguig City, died at past 11 p.m. Thursday after hitting the barrier on the southbound lane of Katipunan Avenue near the corner of Xavierville Avenue in Barangay Loyola Heights, Senior Inspector Erlito Renegin said.

Alvarez was rushed to Quirino Memorial Medical Center but died upon arrival.

Renegin said Alvarez was on his way home from work and might have fallen asleep while driving his sedan (TQA-973). He said there were no signs that Alvarez was drunk. The car also had no mechanical problems.

Rescue workers from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority were the ones who pulled out the man from his wrecked car.
