Barangay chairman shot in Caloocan
MANILA, Philippines - A barangay official was wounded after being shot by two motorcycle-riding men in Caloocan City yesterday morning.
Felipe Alday, 59, chairman of Barangay 178 in Camarin, was having breakfast at an eatery when the suspects appeared from nowhere and shot him several times in the head.
Bystanders rushed the victim to the hospital where he was listed in critical condition.
The gunmen escaped after the shooting.
Superintendent Ferdinand del Rosario, North Caloocan Police Station chief, said Alday’s family is looking at politics as motive for the attack. The victim is running for re-election in the coming barangay polls.
