MANILA, Philippines - The government is seeking technical data from other groups in crafting the implementing rules and regulations (IRR) of the recently signed Anti-Drunk and Drugged Driving Act, Republic Act 10586.
The Department of Transportation and Communications, through the Land Transportation Office (LTO), wants technical and other pertinent information on alcohol breath analyzers, urine drug testing kits, saliva drug testing kits and other chemical kits and accessories available locally.
The “request for information†was made through a notice signed by LTO chief Assistant Secretary Virginia Torres and published in The STAR Sunday.
The LTO requested interested parties and suppliers to coordinate their product or technical presentation with the IRR secretariat for the actual presentation tomorrow.
The LTO made it clear that the invitation was “solely for information solication.â€
President Aquino signed in May the new law, which imposes stiffer sanctions on those driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Under the law, traffic enforcers are allowed to conduct breath analysis on drivers suspected to be intoxicated.
