89 dancers, entertainers rescued from girly club

MANILA, Philippines - Eighty-nine dancers and entertainers, including six minors, were rescued from a club in Parañaque City on July 27, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said yesterday.

The bureau’s Anti-Human Trafficking Division (AHTRAD) said the 83 women and six girls were “offered for sexual services” and were “made to perform live nude shows” at the Asian Entertainment Network in Baclaran.

NBI agents arrested the club’s officer-in-charge Isagani Bordamonte and 22 other club personnel. The club’s alleged owners, Delfin Lim and certan Kenji, remain at large.

NBI-AHTRAD head agent Dante Bonoan said the International Justice Mission complained about the club’s activities on July 25.

“Several female entertainers, including suspected minors, are being offered for prostitution, and female dancers are asked to perform nude shows inside the establishment,” the NBI said in a statement.

NBI agents raided the club together with personnel from the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking, Department of Labor and Employment, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

Those arrested will be charged for violating laws against human trafficking and child abuse, the NBI said.
