On-cam gunman’s lover caught smuggling drugs into jail

MANILA, Philippines - A partner of the man accused of killing a barangay councilman at the height of the New Year’s Eve revelry in 2011 was caught trying to smuggle marijuana into the Caloocan City Jail Thursday afternoon.

A guard at the jail’s main gate found a sachet of marijuana in the pocket of Lorraine Castro, 28, who was visiting Arnel Buenaflor, said Police Officer 2 Randulfo Hipolito. Castro, who was arrested, said the sachet was not hers.

Buenaflor was identified as the killer of Barangay 35 councilman Reynaldo Dagsa, who was taking a photo of his family when Buenaflor shot him.

Buenaflor was seen in the photo aiming a gun at Dagsa. A lookout, Rommel Oliva, was also caught on camera.
