Man admits to rob-slay of UA&P student
MANILA, Philippines - A man confessed that he robbed and killed his friend’s cousin, a University of Asia & the Pacific student, when they visited the victim at his house in Pasig City last July 1, officials said yesterday.
Michael delos Santos, 21, was arrested Monday while he was driving a motorcycle without a helmet and license plates.
During interrogation, Delos Santos said he and his friend, Rodolfo San Agustin, 22, killed the latter’s cousin, 18-year-old Ranilo Raymundo.
San Agustin, who was arrested last week, earlier claimed that he was at the ground floor of Raymundo’s house while Delos Santos stabbed the teenager.
Investigators said San Agustin brought Delos Santos to meet Raymundo, who invited them to his room.
San Agustin was arrested by Senior Inspector Alan Miparanum, Pasig City police intelligence chief, two days after the discovery of the victim’s body.
Raymundo was found dead by househelp Merriam Marero in his room at past 5 a.m. on July 21. He had been repeatedly stabbed and his body covered with a blanket.
Delos Santos admitted stealing Raymundo’s belongings – three cell phones, two laptops and an expensive camera – and selling them to various vendors, Miparanum said.
