No work at COA, Sandigan

Michael Punongbayan - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines -  Officials and employees of the Commission on Audit (COA) and the Sandiganbayan will not report to work today as President Aquino delivers his State of the Nation Address at the Batasang Pambansa Complex.

The anti-graft court and COA decided to declare a holiday in anticipation of heavy traffic and a barrage of protesters along Commonwealth Avenue.

The COA and the Sandiganbayan are located near the IBP Road leading to the House of Representatives where the President will deliver his SONA.

Traffic in the area will be rerouted since the Fairview-bound portion of Commonwealth Avenue will be temporarily closed to all vehicles today.

The Quezon City Police District is implementing tight security along roads leading to the Batasang Pambansa complex.

Militant groups, despite not being granted permit to rally, have threatened to get as close as possible to the House of Representatives.

The QCPD said the eastbound portion of Commonwealth Avenue from Ever Gotesco to the COA would be closed to traffic starting at 5 a.m. today.
