40 families lose homes in QC slum fire

MANILA, Philippines - Some 40 families were left homeless when a fire razed a shantytown in Quezon City yesterday morning.

At leas 20 shanties were gutted in Barangay Pinyahan, according to fire investigator SFO2 Jovelyn Panganiban.

Panganiban said the fire destroyed around P600,000 worth of properties.

She said the flames originated from the house of Kristalyn Cambay and quickly spread to the other houses.

The fire was reported to have started at around 7 a.m. and reached up to the fourth alarm before it was put out at past 8 a.m.
