MANILA, Philippines - Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada has ordered the acquisition of six rubber boats to boost the city government’s capability to respond to emergency situations during typhoons.
He also issued Executive Order No. 9, directing the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council to reconvene pursuant to Republic Act 10121.
Estrada and Vice Mayor Isko Moreno sit as chairman and vice chairman, respectively of MDRRMC.
Diego Cagahastian, city’s public information office chief, said the budget for the purchase of the rubber boats would come from the city’s remaining P399 million calamity funds for this year.
