Woman tails, catches robber

MANILA, Philippines - A woman followed two men who robbed her and managed to get a clue that led to the arrest of one of the robbers, an official said yesterday.

Marilyn dela Cruz, 30, was robbed while she was riding a passenger jeepney in Cubao Thursday afternoon, according to Superintendent Marcelino Pedrozo Jr., commander of the Quezon City Police District Station 10.

She followed the two robbers and saw them board a parked taxicab, Pedrozo said. Dela Cruz took note of the plate number, TXH-341, which investigators traced to the Wallis Trans Corp.

Pedrozo said they secured taxi driver Alan Boy Alaba’s photo and showed it to Dela Cruz. She identified Alaba, 31, as one of the men who reportedly robbed her.

The company claimed Alaba was a new driver and had not returned the taxi for three days. Alaba was arrested when he returned to the company garage Sunday night.
