Rey Galupo, Marvin Sy - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Burglars stole around P2 million in payroll money from the office of a construction company in Quezon City.

Inspector Alan dela Cruz, head of the theft and robbery investigation section of the Quezon City Police District, said the burglary at the office of 5R Construction Co. in Barangay Sto. Domingo was discovered yesterday.

Dela Cruz said the suspects also took a .45 caliber pistol and a closed-circuit television recorder from the third floor office of the owner, Romeo Ngo, 52.

The money was inside a vault that was forced open by the burglars while the gun was in a drawer of Ngo’s table.

The building was closed at 8 p.m. Friday and only had one guard posted in front of the establishment. At past 7 a.m. yesterday, one of the employees discovered the burglary.

Dela Cruz said the iron window grills at the rear of the third floor had been sawed off. All of the offices leading to the room of Ngo were also forced open and searched.
