Drunk barangay chief kills bouncer
MANILA, Philippines - A drunk barangay chairman reportedly shot dead a man who complained about his excessive horn-blowing as he tried to park his car in front of the barangay hall on 10th Avenue in Caloocan City before dawn yesterday.
Wilfredo Diwa, 56, a bouncer, was awakened at past 3 a.m. when Barangay 136, Bagong Barrio chairman Othello Ocampo kept on honking his horn after he parked his car in front of the Barangay 66 hall to fetch one of his children at the nearby Victorio Compound, Senior Inspector Gaylord Tamayo, the Caloocan police’s investigation chief, said.
Diwa reportedly went out of his house and confronted Ocampo, who left and returned a few minutes later, with his four-year-old son in tow, and reportedly shot Diwa in his left eye.
Caloocan police chief Senior Superintendent Remus Calixto ordered Tamayo to arrest Ocampo, who is believed to have gone into hiding.
