2 girls tag GMA-7 employee’s brod as rape suspect

Reinir Padua - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A brother of a GMA-7 employee has been identified by two teenage girls he reportedly lured into his car and tried to rape on separate occasions, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Senior Superintendent Richard Albano said yesterday.

Albano said criminal charges will be filed against Jose Carlo Rosales, brother of Maria Paula Teresa Rosales, who bought a Honda Jazz (ZRD-461) from her employer.

The plate number was traced to GMA-7 after the incident in Cubao last week, wherein the driver offered the girl a ride to school after he asked her for directions. The girl told police the driver tried to rape her, but she fought him off and escaped.

GMA-7 said it sold the vehicle to one of its employees. The name of the owner of the car has apparently not been changed in the registration documents despite the sale, police said.

Superintendent Marcelino Pedrozo, commander of QCPD Station 10, said a similar case happened in West Kamias in February and when the sketches of the attackers in the two incidents were compared, they looked similar.

Pedrozo said when they went to Rosales’ house on Monday afternoon, they asked a neighbor if they knew the man depicted in the sketches. The neighbor pointed to Jose Carlo, he said.

Chief Inspector Rodel Marcelo, head of the QCPD’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, said they managed to secure a photo of Jose Carlo and when it was shown to the two girls, they identified the man in the photo as their attacker.
