6 hurt in Manila traffic accidents
MANILA, Philippines - At least six persons were injured in two accidents in Manila since Monday night, police said yesterday.
At past 8 p.m. Monday, a Philippine National Railways train driven by 25-year-old Angelo Coldas collided with a passenger jeepney, whose driver, Ernesto Abonal Jr., suddenly crossed the railway tracks in Pandacan.
Passengers Rosario de la Cruz, 81, and Aeon Jayson Victoria, 15, were hurt in the smashup.
Just before 8 a.m. yesterday, four passengers were hurt when the jeepney they were riding turned on its side after hitting the Legarda flyover’s center island.
Police said Richard Soriano was driving down the flyover en route to Sta. Mesa when the brakes failed and the vehicle hit the flyover’s center island.
Dolores San Diego, Rey Batungbakal, Arman Ymas, and Katrina Pia Santos were brought to the Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center for treatment.
