Chinese hurt in ambush

Ramil Bajo, Rey Galupo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A Chinese man was wounded in an ambush by two men riding a motorcycle in Malate, Manila yesterday afternoon.

Dongliang Wang, 33, was driving his black Ford Everest (TRQ-558) on M.H. del Pilar street’s southbound lane when he was shot at by the two men just before 3 p.m., Police Officer 3 Ferdinand Leyva said.

The victim, who was hit in the chest, managed to drive a few blocks more until he was cornered by the gunmen in front of a bank on Remedios street.

One of the men took Dongliang’s Lacoste bag, which contained P50,000, and the gunmen sped off toward Roxas Boulevard, Leyva said.

Dongliang was taken to the Manila Doctors Hospital. Investigators said they are looking at robbery as a motive for the ambush, but did not rule out the possibility that the attackers are hired killers.
