1 dead as car crashes into mixer

MANILA, Philippines - One person was killed when the car he was driving collided head-on with a mixer along J.P. Rizal Street in Barangay Cembo, Makati City before dawn yesterday.

Rescue workers identified the victim as Alberto Sese, the driver of a Honda Civic (WRX-481).

Initial reports stated that the two vehicles were traveling on opposite lanes when Sese’s car went out of its lane and hit the cement mixer driven by Renato Pepe just before 2 a.m.

The impact crushed Sese’s car, pinning him. It took rescuers about 30 minutes to extract his body from the driver’s seat.

Reports said the victim could have fallen asleep while driving.
