2 sisters sell girls to sex ring

MANILA, Philippines - Two sisters, including a namesake of Batangas Gov. Vilma Santos, were arrested in Bulacan for allegedly peddling teenage girls to a prostitution ring in Malaysia.

A report by Northern Police District director Chief Superintendent Jose Ma. Alvarez and Valenzuela police chief Senior Superintendent Eric Armamento said the girls were sold for P30,000 to P50,000 each.

The alleged recruiters – Santos and her sister, Crystal – get a P3,000 cut for every girl sent to Malaysia. At least three girls have been peddled to Malaysia since April, according to the report.

“The victims were promised employment in Malaysia provided they will pose naked as an employment precondition,” the report read.

The report said two girls (14 and 17 years old) were rescued from the sisters.

Budding or developed breasts are required for the girls’ employment in a spa in Malaysia, according to the report. Girls whose breasts have yet to develop cannot be hired and will be left in the Philippines.

The scheme was discovered after a girl who was refused employment complained to the Valenzuela police station.

Santos, also known as Joan, was nabbed in Banga Elementary School in Meycauayan by the Valenzuela police and the local government’s  social welfare workers. The sisters will be charged with human trafficking today.

The report said police officers are set to arrest Santos’ alleged accomplices, “who are reportedly in Zamboanga.”
