Reinir Padua - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A female law student was robbed in a taxicab on her way to the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City Monday night.

Police said Pauline Marie Gairanod, 22, lost her Apple MacBook Air, iPhone5, iPad Mini, and P1,200 cash to the suspects.

Investigation conducted by PO2 Romeo Nino showed two of the suspects hid at the front seat and under the dashboard at the back, while a third man boarded the cab during the heist.

Nino said the suspects, including the cabbie, divested the victim of her valuables as heavy rain poured.

The UP law student was in a hurry to attend a training seminar at the UP campus when she flagged down the white taxi at around 7:30 p.m. in front of a supermarket along Katipunan Avenue.

She told the driver to bring her to the campus, but the cabbie took another direction.

Police said the taxi driver was the one who pointed a gun at the victim and declared the heist.

After the robbery, the suspects released the victim somewhere in Fairview.
