Tanod caught raping woman in village hall

MANILA, Philippines - A barangay watchman was allegedly caught raping a mentally ill 46-year-old woman in the Barangay Amihan village hall in Quezon City over the weekend.

Tanod Jeriho Bellen, 34, was charged with rape Sunday after the woman’s 74-year-old mother reportedly caught him taking advantage of her daughter Friday night, according to Superintendent Richard Fiesta, commander of the Quezon City Police District Station 9.

Bellen was reportedly drunk when he saw the woman passing by the barangay hall and dragged her to his quarters. The woman’s mother was looking for her daughter and had gone to the barangay hall to inquire about her daughter’s whereabouts, police said.
